SCROLLING

Each vowel sound file of rhymes is far to large to fit on a small computer screen. However, you can use the SCROLL BAR at the right of the screen (or the keyboard down/up arrow keys or Page Down/Page Up keys) to SCROLL down, or back up, through the various rhyme groupings.

The word END will appear on the last line.

Each vowel sound file is organized into rhyme groups which rhyme with the selected vowel sound and the consonants that are used in the rhyming word.

These rhyme groups fall into three natural categories:

				          Examples:

No preceding or following consonant aye
Preceding consonant (if no following consonant)	pay
Following consonant aid

Each rhyme group is identified by a leading header, such as -A, -PA or -AP, using the rhyming vowel sound and the related consonants.

The rhyme groups are listed alphabetically, starting with the case of no proceeding consonant (which does not always exist), then the groups having leading consonants and finally the groups having following consonants.

Examples:

Consonant	Type	Header	Rhymes

None Single	-AY	aye
		Double	-AY	ailing
		Triple	-AY	ailable

Precedes Single	-PA	pay,paid,pane
		Double	-PA	paying,spaying
		Triple	-PA	payable

Follows Single	-AP	ape,drape,grape
		Double	-AP	caper,paper,shaper
		Triple	-AP	capable,caperer,Apian

Finally, when there are large number of rhymes in a group, two additional sub-groupings are used:

First, the rhymes are grouped according to the number of vowels present in the word.

Examples:

Kay,cay,quai
decay,pique,Okay,bouquet,coquet,roquet,parquet,risque
applique,communique,tourniquet

Second, to conserve screen space, the rhyming portion may be given followed by different prefixes or suffixes:

Examples:

 +day birth-,hey-,holi-,May-,pay-,to-,yester-,Sun(etc)-

END
